Edinburgh Falls Prevention

Active For Life

If you or a loved one are getting to a certain age, falling is increasingly likely. 1 in 3 people over 65 will have a fall at least once a year. Falling is one of the main reasons for trips to the Emergency room, and hospital admission.

Hospital is not a good place to be (regardless of the quality of care).

To put it bluntly, falling can be the beginning of a slippery slope.

Falls Prevention Cinic

Physical assessment

Let us determine your risk of falling by using cutting-edge technology - supplied by VALD health. By measuring and comparing the strength of one leg with the other, and by measuring your balance, we can predict your risk of falling.

Medication

Side-effects of medication can include dizziness and other symptoms which increase risk of falling.

Vision and hearing loss

This affects your balance, resulting in greater risk of falling.

Footwear and foot health

Both of these can be very relevant too, and will be assessed

Plan to reduce your risk of falling

Having gained all the important information, we’ll come up with a plan to reduce your risk of falling. And we’ll guide you through the process. This may include appointments with a Personal Trainer, yoga teacher, osteopath, physio and liaising with your GP.
