Research “backs” exercises and education

If you would like to avoid lower back pain, there’s more and more evidence that a combination of exercise and education is the most effective approach.  In  this review of the research in the area, just published in the American Medicine’s Journal of Internal Medicine, the authors concluded that “exercise… in combination with education is effective for preventing low back pain.”  Nothing else was effective.

This is why I built the “active X university“; in order to provide evidence-based information and exercises.  If you haven’t taken a look, just have a peek at the content.  It’s also why I aim to publish another book on low back pain in the first quarter of this year.  Aaannnd… I’m aiming to release a massive update to the active X university later this year, in fact recrafting it entirely, including (drum roll)… an app which will bring you the information you need, when you need it most – to your smartphone; exercises tailored to your problem, nudges to do them and to move more often, and to improve your posture etc.  It’ll be the culmination of 4 years of work researching and testing “in your pocket” support for back pain sufferers.

If you’d like to be involved in testing the app, or providing feedback on the first (or second) draft of the book, please do let me know – all help is greatly appreciated, and will make a big difference to future potential sufferers.
