Opposite arm and leg lift endurance exercise for chronic back pain

The opposite arm and leg life is a great endurance exercise to help strength your back and plays an important part in helping you overcome chronic back pain. This exercise is part of a series of blog posts I have been writing which feature exercises for chronic back pain.

Here is the easy version:

  • In the crawling position (on your hands and knees), lift one leg to the horizontal keeping elbows straight.
  • Try not to let your body swing over the supporting knee: keep it in the middle
  • Hold for 15 seconds

Repeat on alternate sides four times

Harder Version

  • In the crawling position, lift opposite arm and leg to horizontal position.
  • Try not to let your body swing over the supporting knee: keep it in the middle
  • Hold for 15 seconds

Repeat on alternate sides four times

Always remember that you should never feel pain during any of these exercises.  If you are experiencing pain please call me on 0131 221 1415

Here’s a helpful video for you to watch which shows the harder version – with the easier version just keep your hands on the ground.
